How do induction hobs compare to gas and electric cooking hobs?

Induction hobs, gas hobs, and electric hobs are three different types of cooking systems used in the kitchen. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Below are some of the most notable differences between the three types of hobs:

Energy efficiency:

Induction hobs are the most energy-efficient as they generate heat directly in the pan and not on the cooking surface. Gas hobs are less efficient compared to induction hobs, and electric hobs are the least efficient.

Temperature control:

Induction hobs offer the best temperature control as they respond instantly to temperature changes and heat up and cool down quickly. Gas hobs also offer good temperature control, but they can take longer to cool down. Electric hobs can take longer to heat up and cool down, making temperature control more difficult.

Safety:

Induction hobs are the safest as the surface itself does not heat up too much and only heats up when a pan is placed on it. Gas hobs can be dangerous if there is a gas leak, and electric hobs can also be dangerous if the hob is hot and has not been detected.

Cleaning:

Induction hobs are easier to clean as the surface does not heat up too much, and therefore, food does not burn onto the surface. Gas hobs and electric hobs can be more difficult to clean if food burns onto the surface.

Compatibility:

Induction hobs are only compatible with certain types of pans, such as cast iron or magnetic stainless steel. Gas hobs and electric hobs are compatible with a wide variety of pans.
